Way of Ink
Art Film
Director Andy Scarano invited me to collaborate on a film featuring Junko Azukawa, a traditional Japanese calligraphy artist, created to accompany her upcoming exhibition in Melbourne, Australia.
Told across five chapters, the film offers a quiet, meditative look into Junko’s artistic process — exploring the balance between movement and stillness, discipline and expression, as ink and brush become an extension of her spirit.
Chapter 1: Preparation Before it happens there is the recalling of a sacred moment...
Chapter 2: The call It asks her to pick up a brush and devote herself to the stroke...
Chapter 3: Ego The brush marks respond to the conversations in her head...
Chapter 4: Let go Free of expectation her brush begins to lead the dance...
Chapter 5: Be The experience evolves into One...
